Kakao Games announced its performance for the 2nd quarter of 2025 on the 6th.
Applying the Korea International Financial Reporting Standards (K-IFRS), the revenue for the 2nd quarter of this year was approximately 115.8 billion won (YoY -24%, QoQ -6%), with an operating loss of approximately 8.6 billion won (YoY deficit reversal, QoQ continued deficit).
Mobile games recorded around 101 billion won in revenue (YoY -26%, QoQ 5%), while PC online games recorded around 14.8 billion won (YoY -9%, QoQ -45%).
Despite the impact of new game vacancy, the live game performance of "Odin: Valhalla Rising" expanding globally and the increase in revenue share of self-developed Intellectual Property (IP) contributed to reducing the operating loss by about 31% compared to the previous quarter.
In the 3rd quarter, Kakao Games will continue its global market expansion with the release of the new mobile action RPG "Gardis Order" in September, focusing on retro sentiment and manual control, as well as the presentation of the game "God Save Birmingham" developed by its subsidiary Ocean Drive Studio at "Gamescom".
Additionally, through consecutive publishing contracts in the first half of the year, various genre games such as ▲collectible cultivation simulation game "Project C" ▲2.5D MMORPG "Project OQ" ▲strategy adventure RPG "Dungeon Arise" have been added to the lineup to secure IP.
Furthermore, by concentrating on the development of large-scale new titles that transcend various platforms and genres such as "Chrono Odyssey", "A: C Chronicle", and "Project Q", Kakao Games will strengthen its position as a global game company.
Kakao Games' CEO Han Sang-woo stated, "We are actively seeking out outstanding IPs to secure future growth momentum and are focusing on enhancing IP competitiveness and developing new titles in various genres to achieve sustainable growth."
